Code

Location: General Settings → Code

This field displays your organization’s four-digit code assigned by VIF.

Important: This field is read-only and cannot be changed.


Name

Location: General Settings → Name

This field contains the organization name provided by your organization.

The name appears beneath the user’s name on the Active Accounts page in the VIF Care app.

Important: Users with only one account are taken directly to their Personal Profile page, so they will not see the organization name on the Active Accounts page.


Simple Account Setup

Location: General Settings → Simple Account Setup

This setting controls how much information users are asked to enter when creating a new VIF account through the app.

  • ON: Users complete 2 screens with only basic information.

  • OFF: Users complete 4 screens, including the Identification screen from Basic Info.

Enable this setting for a shorter account setup process. Disable it to include additional information during setup.

Recommended default setting: ON


Default First Responder Access

Location: General Settings → Default First Responders Access

This setting controls whether First Responder Access is automatically enabled for new VIF accounts.

  • ON: First Responder Access is automatically enabled for all new accounts. Their account information is available to first responders, including dispatchers if the organization’s license includes the Nexgen interface.

  • OFF: Users must go to their Care Circle and enable First Responder Access themselves if they want to share their information.

Recommended default setting: ON. If your organization has concerns about automatically sharing users’ account information, consult your legal counsel before enabling this setting.

Important: This setting determines the default for new accounts.


Default Setting Account for Myself

Location: General Settings → Default Setting Account for Myself

This setting controls the default selection for “I am setting this account up for myself” when a user creates a new account through the VIF Care app.

  • ON: The option defaults to ON, indicating that the user is creating the account for themselves.

  • OFF: The option defaults to OFF.

Recommended default setting: Choose ON if most users create their own accounts. Choose OFF if most accounts are created by caregivers for someone else.

Important: This sets the initial selection. Users should check that the option matches whom they are creating the account for.


Chat

Location: General Settings → Chat

This setting allows Care Circle members to communicate privately with each other.

  • ON: Members can have private chats visible only within the VIF Care app. They can also send chat messages via text message to Care Circle members.

  • OFF: The Chat feature is unavailable.

Recommended default setting: Enable if your organization has licensed the feature and wants Care Circle members to use chat.

Important: Chat is an add-on feature that requires additional license fees for your organization.


Alerts

Location: General Settings → Alerts

This setting allows Care Circle members to send alerts to other members of the account’s Care Circle.

  • ON: Members can send alerts as text messages, phone calls, or both.

  • OFF: The Alerts feature is unavailable.

Recommended default setting: Enable if your organization has licensed the feature and wants Care Circle members to send alerts.

Important: Alerts is an add-on feature that requires additional license fees for your organization.


Basic Info

Location: General Settings → Basic Info

This setting controls whether the Basic Info button appears on the Personal Profile page.

  • ON: The Basic Info button appears at the far right of the button bar, directly above Profile Info. Users can tap it to access Current Address and Identification information.

  • OFF: The Basic Info button is hidden.

Recommended default setting: ON, so users can access and update their current address and identification information.


Location: General Settings → Cards Legal Id

This setting controls whether the Cards / Legal ID icon appears on the Personal Profile page.

  • ON: The Cards / Legal ID icon is displayed.

  • OFF: The icon is hidden.

Recommended default setting: ON, so users can access the Cards / Legal ID section.


Health Insurance

Location: General Settings → Health Insurance

This setting controls whether the Health Insurance icon appears on the Personal Profile page.

  • ON: The Health Insurance icon is displayed.

  • OFF: The icon is hidden.

Recommended default setting: ON, so users can access the Health Insurance section.


Medications

Location: General Settings → Medications

This setting controls whether the Medications icon appears on the Personal Profile page.

  • ON: The Medications icon is displayed.

  • OFF: The icon is hidden.

Recommended default setting: ON, so users can access the Medications section.


Medical Devices

Location: General Settings → Medical Devices

This setting controls whether the Medical Devices icon appears on the Personal Profile page.

  • ON: The Medical Devices icon is displayed.

  • OFF: The icon is hidden.

Recommended default setting: ON, so users can access the Medical Devices section.


Documents

Location: General Settings → Documents

This setting controls whether the Documents icon appears on the Personal Profile page.

  • ON: The Documents icon is displayed.

  • OFF: The icon is hidden.

Recommended default setting: ON, so users can access the Documents section.


Media

Location: General Settings → Media

This setting controls whether the Media icon appears on the Personal Profile page.

  • ON: The Media icon is displayed.

  • OFF: The icon is hidden.

Recommended default setting: ON, so users can access the Media section.


Comforting Me

Location: General Settings → Comforting Message

This setting controls whether the Comforting Me icon appears on the Personal Profile page.

  • ON: The Comforting Me icon is displayed.

  • OFF: The icon is hidden.

Recommended default setting: ON, so users can access the Comforting Me section.


Snapshot of Me

Location: General Settings → Snapshot of Me

This setting controls whether the Snapshot of Me icon appears on the Personal Profile page.

  • ON: The Video Identification icon is displayed.

  • OFF: The icon is hidden.

Recommended default setting: ON, so users can access the Video Identification section.


VIF Care Planning

Location: General Settings → VIF Care Planning

This setting controls whether the VIF Care Planning icon appears on the top menu bar of the Personal Profile page.

  • ON: The VIF Care Planning icon is displayed.

  • OFF: The icon is hidden.

Recommended default setting: OFF, unless users need access to all of the VIF Care Planning scripts. Contact VIF to discuss your specific requirements.


Affiliation Organizations

Location: General Settings → Affiliation Organization

This setting allows your organization to set up sub-organizations, such as group homes or special needs organizations within your community, and link VIF accounts in your registry to them.

  • ON: VIF accounts can be linked to affiliated organizations. When creating a new account through your registration page, select an affiliated organization from the list at the top right of the page.

  • OFF: The affiliated organization feature is unavailable.

Recommended default setting: Enable if your organization needs to link accounts to group homes, special needs organizations, or other affiliated organizations in your community.


Emailed Uploads

Location: General Settings → Emailed Uploads

This setting allows users to upload PDF files to their Documents folder by email. It provides a quicker way to add larger documents instead of uploading individual images one at a time.

  • ON: Users can upload PDF files to their Documents folder by email.

  • OFF: Uploading documents by email is unavailable.

Recommended default setting: OFF. Enable only if your organization has licensed the feature and wants users to upload documents by email.

Important: Emailed Uploads is an add-on feature that requires an additional license fee.


Allow Account Transfer

Location: General Settings → Allow Account Transfer

This setting allows an existing account in your organization to be transferred to another VIF organization while retaining the individual’s information.

  • ON: Accounts can be transferred to another VIF organization.

  • OFF: Account transfers to another VIF organization are unavailable.

Example: If an individual moves to another town and both towns are VIF clients, their existing account can be transferred to the new town. They do not need to create a new account.

Recommended default setting: OFF. This feature is typically turned on when requested.


Nexgen Interface

Location: General Settings → NexGen Interface

This setting controls whether information from your organization’s account registry is shared with local dispatchers through the Nexgen interface.

  • ON: Registry information is shared with local dispatchers.

  • OFF: Registry information is not shared through the Nexgen interface.

Recommended default setting: OFF. Only VIF staff should enable this setting.

Important: The Nexgen Interface is an add-on feature. Contact VIF staff to arrange access and setup.


Allow Care Circle Invitations

Location: General Settings → Allow Care Circle Invitation

This setting controls whether users can invite new members to their account’s Care Circle.

  • ON: Users can invite new members to their account’s Care Circle.

  • OFF: Users cannot send Care Circle invitations.

Recommended default setting: ON, so users can invite others to join their Care Circle.


Allow New Account via App

Location: General Settings → Allow New Account Via App

This setting controls whether users can create new VIF accounts through the VIF Care app.

  • ON: Users can create new accounts through the app.

  • OFF: New accounts can only be created through the online registration process or Account Registration in the administrator panel.

Recommended default setting: ON, so users can create accounts directly through the VIF Care app. Choose OFF if your organization wants registration handled only through the online registration process or administrator panel.


Push Notifications

Location: General Settings → Push Notifications

This setting is intended to let your organization send text message and/or email reminders asking users or caregivers to review and update previous responses to specified script questions.

Availability: This feature is not fully operational yet. Implementation is scheduled for Q4 2026 (October–December).

Once fully implemented:

  • ON: Your organization can configure reminders for specified script questions using the Days Reminder field and the Text Message and Email options.

  • OFF: These reminders will not be sent.

Example: For a question about an individual’s diagnoses or needs, set Days Reminder to 180 and enable Text Message, Email, or both. This is intended to remind the user or caregiver every 180 days to review the response and update it as needed.

Recommended default setting: OFF until VIF confirms the feature is fully operational.
