# How VIF organizations work

VIF organizations bring related accounts together into a registry. An
organization can serve a town, business, school, hospital, group home, service
provider, or another community.

Each organization has its own settings, available features, and administrators.


THE VIF GLOBAL ACCOUNT

The VIF Global Account is managed by VIF staff with Super Admin access. These
staff members manage organizations and their administrators, maintain shared
system information, and provide reusable script templates.


PARENT AND AFFILIATE ORGANIZATIONS

An organization can operate independently or include affiliate organizations,
also called sub-organizations.

For example, the Town of Southington could have a registry available to all
residents. Some residents may also belong to an affiliate organization, such as
ARC of Southington.

 * Town administrators can access all accounts in the town’s registry, including
   accounts associated with its affiliates.

 * ARC administrators can access only the accounts associated with ARC of
   Southington.

 * Residents who do not belong to an affiliate can still have accounts directly
   within the town’s registry.

Affiliate accounts are part of the parent organization’s registry. They do not
need to be duplicated in separate registries.


INDEPENDENT ORGANIZATIONS

Organizations do not have to belong to a town or another parent organization. A
business, hospital, school, or other organization can operate independently with
its own registry and administrators.


CUSTOM ORGANIZATIONS WITHIN THE VIF CARE APP

VIF can customize an organization’s parameters and rules to support different
audiences. These settings determine how the organization uses the VIF Care app,
including which features and scripts are available.

Examples include:

 * VIF Care: Organizations supporting residents, care recipients, and their
   caregivers.

 * VIF Vest: Organizations supporting staff, such as police officers and
   administrative personnel.

 * ViTails: Organizations supporting pets of any type.

Organizations are not limited to special needs or healthcare uses.

VIF also offers a white-labeled version for organizations that want their own
uniquely branded app.


VIEWING AND UPDATING ACCOUNTS

Access to view an account does not automatically include permission to update
it.

Organization administrators may update accounts set up and managed by the
organization. When an account is managed by an individual account holder, an
organization administrator must also belong to that account’s Care Circle with
administrator privileges to update it.
